originally designed as the base of a ashtray, this piece is rearranged in a dish set. that was surely not meant but it is beautiful anyway. [white porcelain and ash wood, 35x11,4cm]

hubert petras – ensemble of vases | wallendorf | 1961

 


during the fifth german art exhibition in dresden in 1962 this ensemble was criticized by no one lesser than walter ulbricht, the former head of state. he excoriated these items for its international style and simplicity. today this vases are icons of industrial design made in gdr.
