rudolf kaiser – wall platter | 1973


the motive of the wall platter looks like a caricature of the present era. but it illustrates the fairy tale ‹the fisherman and his wife› of philipp otto runge, which was published by the brothers grimm too. [faience ware, dm. 34,5cm]

this goblet celebrates the 20th anniversary of the wtk meissen in 1980. it was the base for the luther-goblet from 1983, i have posted already. [porcelain, h. 15,2cm]

watch ‹ruhla digi 73› | uhrenkombinat ruhla | 1973


this watch was presented in the year of the world festival of youth and students which took place in east-berlin. the analog movement is masked by a modern and futuristic digital display. early digital watches were introduced not until the end of the 1970s. [glass, metal and rubber, cal. 24-34]

josef höhler – vase | c. 1960


several potters tryed to develop crystaline glazes in the beginning of the 1960s, because the understanding of making crystaline glazes was lost since the jugendstil era. this vase made by josef höhler is an early example for these efforts. [glazed ceramic, h. 12cm]
